The Vineyard Voice Mission

The Vineyard Voice is a free, nonprofit site for community publishing and an information resource for all islanders.

In addition to providing compelling local-interest news and information, the Voice is designed for every islander — individuals, groups and organizations — to use as a self-publishing medium.

Our mission.
To give all islanders a local online resource for community expression, discovery and livelihood.

The purpose of the Voice is:
To enable and facilitate the free exchange of local ideas and information through the use of online media and in the process show the rich connections between ourselves, our island life and the world.

Through our activities we hope to help enrich the lives of people on Martha's Vineyard by providing:

— a community-publishing venue operating in the public interest;
— a continuously available medium for meaningful conversation;
— a place for well-presented, uncluttered information;
— tools for anyone to contribute their ideas and information in any medium;
— knowhow to help everyone comfortably use the Voice to its fullest;
— a resource for islanders that will enhance our economic livelihood;
— a permanent historical repository of island life.
