Public Good — Life, Water & Youth Journalism
Martha’s Vineyard is sandy… The land is porous, and so what seeps into the ground moves up to 3 feet a day… into our ponds. This video, shot and produced by Fawn Peletier, Avery Lazes and Brad Anastacio is an off-beat, but earnest look at the effects high-nitrogen content water has on wildlife, shellfish and the health and sustainability of our great tidal ponds.
Produced in collaboration with Vineyard Conservation Society, this piece brings the whole story of water — from drain to algae-covered ponds — into focus. Thanks to Brendan O’Neil, Luanne Johnson, Rick Karney and Bob Woodruff for providing vital insight into the story of water here.
